In 1992, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation approved Pine Tree as a licensed retailer. At that time we developed the idea of a festival that would bring together high-quality craftspersons, artists, guest demonstrators and lecturers in the spirit of celebrating Colonial American history, arts, craftsmanship and decorating. This weekend is our 17th annual Williamsburg Festival at Pine Tree Barn. We're excited this year to have great new artisans and exhibitors as well as our favorite familiar faces we look forward to seeing every year, including:
- Potters
- Cabinetmakers
- Blacksmiths
- Candle makers
- Floor Cloths
- Lace maker
- Dr. Balthazars Traveling Miracle Medicine Show
- Musicians

Want to sit for a spell? Join the audiance that gathers hourly to hear Pine Tree's captivating guest speakers. Can Dr. Balthasar's magic elixir really cure anything from a cold to a death of two weeks standing? Attend Dr. Thellonous Balthasar's Marvelous Miracle Medicine Show to find out. Roger Moore, a descendant of the Melungeon tribe, will wow you with tales and artifacts of the lives of Native Americans who lived in Ohio. Pam Blaha will be giving a talk on historical dyes and how they were used.
Plus, don’t miss your chance to be intrigued (or insulted!) by M. LeFarceur de Villeverte, Marchand de Dentelle. The “arrogant frenchman” will be back this year, demonstrating how to make exquisite lace and searching for a few good indentured servants. The 8th Pennsylvania Regiment, which encamps at Pine Tree for the weekend, offers historical and educational living history presentations. They set up their tents on Pine Tree "common" and cook, sleep and work as the original unit would have over 200 years ago. The festival and all guest speaker presentations is free, a guest speaker schedule will be available on our website www.pinetreebarn.com
There's positive interaction between the craftsmen and the public resulting in a wonderful learning experience. "One of the best compliments we've received was when history teachers from all over Ohio began sending their student's to our Williamsburg Festival to earn extra credit. We take great pride in providing a fun and educational experience for all ages" says Greg Dush, manager of Pine Tree Barn. |
Insiders Tip! Our restaurant serves a special menu Williamsburg Weekend. If you'd like to eat inside in the Granary, make sure to give your name to the hostess as soon as you arrive, as they are unable to accept phone reservations. Want to grab a quick and tasty bite? The tavern on the green has sandwiches and drinks, too (And very tasty apple dumplings!) |
